About The Fair Claims Co

Built by someone who learned the hard way.

When my insurer almost denied a legitimate claim while I was flat on my back, I realised the system wasn't broken by accident.

The origin

March 2025. A broken back and a claim that almost didn't make it.

I fractured my spine snowboarding in March 2025. While I was lying in hospital, barely able to move, my insurer began the process of declining my income protection claim. No substantive reason. No clear timeline. Just friction, slow responses, and requests for documentation I had already provided.

The claim only moved forward when I mentioned the Australian Financial Complaints Authority by name. Not because the evidence changed. Not because my situation changed. Because I knew the word AFCA, and most people don't.

"The system isn't designed to make your claim easy. It's designed to make giving up easier than pushing back."

Recovery. The brace came everywhere for three months.

That experience sits behind everything The Fair Claims Co does. The documents we prepare, the arguments we structure, the language we use. All of it is designed to make sure you sound like someone who knows their rights, whether or not you did five minutes ago.

Why this background matters

I spent years inside large organisations. I know how they think.

My career has been built in senior commercial roles across multiple industries and countries. I've sat in rooms where decisions get made about margin, risk, and how much pushback is worth responding to. I've watched how large institutions handle complaints from individuals, and I understand the calculus: most people will exhaust themselves and quietly go away.

That knowledge, of how organisations protect themselves, where their processes have gaps, and what language makes them take a claim seriously, is exactly what gets built into every document The Fair Claims Co produces.

I've also navigated bureaucratic systems personally across four countries: visa processes in the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. That's not a credentials flex. It's what gives me patience for the paperwork and contempt for the unnecessary complexity that wears people down before they've even started.

What we actually do

Not a law firm. Not a claims manager. Something more useful.

The Fair Claims Co prepares dispute documents: dispute letters to insurers, AFCA complaint submissions, and options reports, grounded in the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 and AFCA precedent. We don't take a percentage of your settlement. We don't act as your legal representative. We prepare the paperwork that gives you the best possible chance of being taken seriously.

Lawyers are expensive and built for complex matters. AFCA is free but slow, and you have to be ready to use it. The Fair Claims Co sits in between: fast, affordable, and entirely on your side.
